March Madness is back for the 86th time in basketball history! It’s time to fill out your brackets and have fun with your family and friends watching the NCAA basketball tournament.
This year’s favorites to win are No. 1 seeds Auburn, Florida, and Houston, No.2 seeds St. John’s, Alabama, Tennessee, Michigan State, and No.1 overall, Duke, if Cooper Flagg is healthy. This year’s tournament’s Final Four is in San Antonio, Texas. The most common final four picks are No. 1 Duke, Auburn, Florida, and Houston.
Some people say that college basketball teams who win their conference have a lot of momentum coming into March Madness, so I decided to put some of the conference championships in. Some of the conference champions are, Ivy League champs, Yale, Atlantic 10 champs, VCU, SEC champs, Florida, American champs, Memphis, Big Ten champs, Michigan, ACC champs, Duke, Big 12 champs, Houston, and the Big East champs, St John’s.
The “first four” games were played this past Tuesday and Wednesday. The North Carolina Tar Heels destroyed San Diego State, 95 – 68, and the Alabama State Hornets with a last-second layup, beat St. Francis. The other two first four games are No. 16 seeds Mt St Mary’s vs. American, and No. 11 seeds Texas, against Xavier. Mt St Mary’s beat American, 83 – 72, and Xavier beat Texas, 86 – 80.
So buckle up and enjoy the ride that is the NCAA tournament. Let the Madness of March begin!
