The Halloween extravaganza at Dobbs Ferry Middle School was spooktacular. Everyone including the teachers got into the Halloween spirit and dressed up.
Art teacher Mr. Gonzales set up incredible decorations. There were many decorations, including jack-o-lanterns and classic sheeted ghosts. In between the grades getting called up to show their costumes, there were clips of “horror shows.” One included a twist on “The Headless Horseman”.
Going grade by grade, the kids walked on stage to present their costumes to the judges. The judges chose 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for the individual costumes in each grade. The judges also chose one winner per grade for the group costume.
Sixth grade group winner Samantha Arone was paired up with Abby Kimerling. They were dressed up as tootsie rolls. “We made the costumes ourselves,” said Arone. “Our hard work really paid off. I’m so happy and excited to have won!”
Given that the event has had to be postponed the past two years because of weather-related issues, the students at Dobbs Ferry Middle School were excited that this year’s event took place. “My favorite part was seeing all of the costumes together on the stage,” said Arone. This Halloween was definitely a spooky one and everyone will remember it!
