Newsies is an historical musical set in 1899, New York, where kids selling newspapers, called newsies, go on strike for fair pay from the publishing company they work for called, The World.

Jack Kelly is the charismatic union organizer who leads his fellow newsies throughout the strike. Davey and his little brother Les meet Jack and the newsies early on in the play and agree to help them. A young female news reporter who publishes under the name of Katherine Plumber aids the newsies in their strike by writing an article to raise attention to it. Ms. Medea Larkin, a stage performer, allows the newsies to use her theater for a strike rally. Joseph Pulitzer, the owner of the newspaper publishing company, The World, holds his own against the newsies throughout the play. He was the one to decide to lower the newsies’ pay so that he could keep his profit.

This spectacular musical completed its last performance on the night of November 18th, leaving the crowd in awe of the lights, sets, heavy dance choreography, and especially the skills of all those who participated in it! So here’s the headline: Newsies Stop the World!!!
