Maybe you have been practicing the “cup song” endlessly, giving your friends a headache. Or maybe you have been reliving Fat Amy’s hilarious moments. Either way, you are thinking of the same movie. The one and only Pitch Perfect.
So what is Pitch Perfect about? Becca (Anna Kendrick) is a college freshman. Pressured by her father to join a club, she tries out for the “Barden Bellas”, an all girls A Capella singing group. She thinks this is just an after school club, but little does she know how much the group will change her. The girls in her group have a lot of attitude, but within that there is heart. The group leaders Chloe (Brittany Snow) and Aubrey (Anna Camp) will have to work the girls hard to have their voices come together as one. Also, throughout the movie, Becca builds a relationship with Jesse, (Skylar Astin) a “Treblemaker” (the Bellas’ rivals). Will the Barden Bellas come together as one in time to beat the Treblemakers in competition?
One of the most memorable characters of Pitch Perfect is Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson). This is in fact, not a nickname people call her behind her back. “Fat Amy” is the name she uses when she introduces herself. Fat Amy has a big personality and big voice. She cracks jokes throughout the movie, many at other people’s expenses. Still, the movie would be missing a whole lot of laughter if not for Fat Amy.
An amazing part of Pitch Perfect is the music. The Barden Bellas and Treblemakers really push themselves to be the best they can be. The music is truly amazing- there is choreography, beat boxing, rapping, and many harmonies that will be “music to your ears”. Being a singer myself, it was breathtaking and inspiring to see all of the hard work the characters put into their music taking shape on screen.
Not only do the cast of Pitch Perfect sing beautifully, the soundtrack was filled with many songs that are easily recognizable. These songs include:
- Don’t Stop the Music
- Since U Been Gone
- Turn the Beat Around
- Magic
- Just the Way You Are
Hearing these pop songs that I already knew made the movie more enjoyable. There were also other songs that I did not know, and it was interesting to hear the A Capella version before actually hearing the real song. I would give a “thumbs up” to whoever created the soundtrack!
Pitch Perfect is a movie definitely worth watching. Filled with music, friendship, romance, and comedy, the movie is “aca awesome” as they say!
