Coming off a World Series appearance, New York’s most storied franchise faced many roster decisions. Since February 20th the Yankees have been gearing up for the season at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida.
The Yankees roster had a bunch of gains during the offseason, but the defending AL champions also had some significant losses. The new players putting on the pinstripes include Max Fried (LHP), Cody Bellinger (OF), Paul Goldschmidt (1B), and Devin Williams (RHP). The players on the move include Juan Soto (OF), Nestor Cortes (LHP), Clay Holmes (RHP), Anthony Rizzo (1B), Alex Verdugo (OF), and Jose Trevino (C).
Even though they gained some great players, some of the players still on the team are injured like Gerrit Cole (RHP) out for Tommy John surgery, Luis Gil (RHP) – right lat strain, Clarke Schmidt (RHP) – right shoulder fatigue, Giancarlo Stanton (DH) – torn tendons in both elbows, DJ LeMahieu (INF) – left calf strain, and Jonathan Loáisiga (RHP) – recovery from right UCL surgery.
