Halloween Havoc for the Eagles

dobbs footballSo far this season, the varsity football Eagles have been dominating their opponents. Quality wins against teams like Haldane, Tuckahoe, and Rye Neck have propelled them to an undefeated 6-0, and 4-0 in their league.

A tense and excited atmosphere hung in the air last night for Section I championship, under the lights at Pace University. Dobbs Ferry faced off against Woodlands, who had battled Dobbs to a 20-14 game earlier in the season. They had no such luck on Halloween night. The Eagles defense was on lockdown, shutting down star Woodlands quarterback Amari Bilal, and his offense, limiting him to 52 yards on 5-for-17 passing, while allowing a meager 28 yards on 21 running carries. Meanwhile, our offense torched the Falcons, rushing for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns, while star cornerback Najee Smith had a 55-yard pick-six.

With a final score of 35-0, we all knew by then: Class C belongs to Dobbs. A further test lies ahead for the undefeated Eagles, as they will play November 14th at Dietz Stadium in the regional finals against the champion from Section IX.
