On Friday, March 9th, at 7pm, 23 performers stepped on stage. Some were nervous, some were excited, and some just didn’t know what to feel. All in all, these feelings disappeared once they started performing. The performers knew that this was a worthwhile experience that helped raise money for kids in need. This was the night of Dobbs Ferry’s Got Talent!
The middle school performers were…
- Stepping Eagles
- Tess Eliopoulos and Megan McDade
- Katie Knezevic
- Sophie Kimerling and Isa Alexander
- Sophia Harris and Ella Rosenkranz
- Nisha Mathur
- Jeremy Sipe
- Elijah Hubbard
- Crystal Gao
- Skyy King, Jack Cattabiani, Nathan Perry and Christian Flynn
This event was sponsored by Spring Community Partners, The Dobbs Ferry Youth Council, and the Teen Advisory Group. All the proceeds went to Spring, an organization dedicated to helping kids get what they need. Spring has helped sign kids up for sports, given snacks to families who cannot afford them, and provided scholarships to preschools, among their many accomplishments.
Seventh grader Sophie Kimerling took part in the event. She and her friend Isa Alexander performed in their band called “Peace, Love and Harmonies”. She appreciated the fact that though she would be nervous in front of a large crowd, at least it would consist mostly of her friends. “It was a good experience for performing in front of big crowds. I was really scared at first, but once I got up there I knew I was okay because I know that my friends support me.”
The acts in the show ranged from duos, trios, solos, quartets, and even dancers. There were some very nice piano, guitar, and string instruments accompaniments and even some drum players. The talent show included both middle schoolers and high schoolers as well. This was very interesting to see the differences between the two age groups. Seventh grader Molly Selin found this interesting as well. She said, “I thought it was very well put together and everybody did well.” This was very true. It would not be surprising if some of those performers became musicians one day.
As you can see, the talent show was a great success. It helped raise money for kids in need and gave kids an experience to show their talent. We definitely saw the talent that night!
