Dobbs Ferry-I went to visit the controversial Ridge Hill development in Yonkers, and it only took thirty minutes to realize that this place was a dump. Terrible music was booming in my ears from the ground. I went during the October snowstorm; there was no protection from the storm at all. Then I realized that there would be no shade during the summer, which would make ninety degrees feel like the Devil’s Kitchen. The movie theater is not bad; but nonetheless, I would give this place a big fat F-.
Now who could forget about Sandy Annabi? It was the money that another defendant gave her so she could change her vote to allow Ridge Hill to be built in the first place. She will regret it. As of March 2, she is on trial facing charges of corruption, which could net her some jail time. Unfortunately, critics of the development are becoming couch potatoes while watching News 12’s coverage of the trial.
Many sixth graders are also critical of Ridge Hill’s offerings. Luka Opacic said, “It is not the greatest place to go shopping.” A fellow sixth grader who spoke under the terms of anonymity said, “Parking is too expensive.” Another person who spoke under the condition of anonymity said, “It is okay, but it is not the best [development].” Most people also complained of the loud music booming up from the ground and the distance from shop to shop.
Recently, the management installed a moving trolley, which will help the place grow closer together. If they want to have residential complexes though, they should build a bridge from the apartments to the mall itself. Take the Cross County Mall for example in, you guessed it, Yonkers. The mall is basically like Ridge Hill. Except it is so much bigger! You have to drive from store to store instead of walk! If this was a long time ago, I’d be writing and complaining about the Cross County Mall!
Ridge Hill is worse than the Cross County and every other mall in the Tri-State Area. If this were in Los Angeles and HAD SHADE, the experience would be more positive. But it snows here and the complex sits on a HILL! I don’t care if I’m grilling everyone in the process of building this waste of time; the op in op-ed means OPINION! If you want a great shopping mall, don’t choose Ridge Hill!
